A perfect signal is -30 dBm. Likely, you do not have a perfect signal, but that is OK. Any signal between -67 to -30 dBm will let you perform most online activities. Here is what the scale looks like and what each signal strength measurement means:

🏷 Note – Wireless network design with best effort (-50dBm to – 67dBM) is consider good network connectivity to end user’s device. While performing a wireless site survey on site , it’s most important things to consider the range boundary of an access-point point.

By the time it reaches your home, it has a lower dBm. Measured in dBm, a signal of greater than -70 dBm is considered an excellent signal in all networks. A poor signal will be -100 dBm or worse in 3G networks and -110 dBm

Medium quality: 50% ~= -75db. Low quality: 30% ~= -85db. Unusable quality: 8% ~= -96dbDepending on your OS and application, WiFi signal strength is represented either as quality in percentage, or an RSSI value in dBm, i.e. -70db. RSSI is usually expressed in decibels from 0 (zero) to -120db and the closer it is to zero, the stronger the signal is.

For simple, low-throughput tasks like sending emails, browsing the web, or scanning barcodes, -70 dBm is a good signal strength. For higher-throughput applications like voice over IP or streaming video, -67 dBm is better, and some engineers recommend -65 dBm if you plan to support mobile devices like iPhones and Android tablets.

-30 dBm Excellent This is the maximum achievable signal strength and will be appropriate for any usage scenario.-50 dBm Excellent This excellent signal level is suitable for all network uses. -65 dBm Very Good -67 dBm

-80 dBm: This is an unreliable signal strength. You may be able to connect to your network, but you will not support most online activity.-90 dBm: This is a bad signal strength. You are not likely to connect to internet at this level.
