If you were to attempt to use it the first thing your connection wizard will ask for is the SSID which you would input. Then it would ask your for the security information like typical wireless connections.

My modem is broadcasting an unwanted wifi network with a hidden SSID on the same channel as my home wifi network causing tons of interference. I'm using Wifi Analyzer on my smartphone and I can see the hidden (unnamed) network has the same MAC address as my cable modem so I know my cable modem is the source of the secondary network.
